Little Pea and Persie braces keeps Utd ahead in the races

Despite last year's upset at the DW stadium , Manchester United came away with a comfortable four nil victory against Wigan yesterday afternoon. Another clean sheet and another three points for Sir Alex Ferguson's side as they look to get back the Premier League trophy from rivals Manchester City.
The first half hour of the game looked as if the confident Wigan side, after their three nil away victory at Villa Park, were going to hard to break down by United. The Reds were finding it difficult tactically to push full backs Rafael and Evra into attacking positions as Wigan's wing backs in Boyce and Beausejour also looked to push forward. In fact Wigan looked like they could possibly cope with United, they had spells of possession at times and managed to avoid to much horror in front of goal, but it was clear that United were looking to pounce on any mistakes they could force out of the Latics.
That is exactly what happened when Hernandez was quick to react to Al Habsi's save from a Patrice Evra shot, to put United into the lead. In truth Al Habsi had a shaky game throughout and looked very cautious of the Red's attacking force.
It didn't take long before the second goal came, again from a sloppy Wigan mistake as Boyce failed to clear the ball after heating it against his teammate to give Hernandez possession, the Mexican sprinting to the corner of the penalty area before crossing low to Van Persie. What the dutch man did next was truly a pleasure to watch. Van Persie controlled the ball first time with his right foot touch to shift the ball to his deadly left foot, which he then used to pretend he was shooting with, leaving Ramis sliding across desperately only to watch Van Persie take the ball back on to his right foot and curl the ball exquisitely into the very right corner of the netting. Leaving it difficult to judge whether he has a weaker foot.
The second half kicked off with Wigan desperate to snatch a quick goal to change the game, but United held the ball well and always looked dominant and capable of scoring more goals. Which is what happened when Wigan gave a freekick away on the edge of the box. Van Persie's attempted shot was deflected and as the ball bounced in the penalty area for a split second, Hernandez was again the quickest to react and put the game to bed for United.
Wigan did have two very close chances however. The first saw Di Santo drill a pass into Kone to slot home, only to be ruled out offside by the linesman. Replays showed the decision was correct. The second chance for Wigan came when Gomez came on for Di Santo and span a freekick just wide of the post, if on target De Gea looked to have no chance. Gomez did show a more positive impact on the game for Wigan, inviting the full backs forward to damaged United but soon the fourth goal would kill of the game.
As substitute Danny Welbeck came on, he was instantly involved in another United goal. As United were passing through Wigan again, Rafael saw his back heel go to Beausejour the chance looked over for United but Beausejour and Boyce got managed to bump into each other with comical defending which ledt Welbeck to pass through to Van Persie to slot the fourth past a miserable Al Habsi. Leaving the game to finish four goals to the good for Manchester United.
It really was a joy to watch two world class forwards with such hunger and class to win a game of football. Hernandez is looking very threatening at the moment, his pace, alertness and awareness always allows him to be one step ahead of any defence, the little Mexican really is an absolute handful to contain. Not only do the defence have to focus on him though, Robin Van Persie is along side. The dutch man is simply and solely class, his technique is outstanding in all aspects; finishing, dribbling and passing. The new aspect he brings to United is his delivery in from corners, his left boot curls with such pace it puts the ball on a plate for United attackers. But the 29 year old's finishing is remarkable, the amazing stat after the game showed that he had scored 16 goals within his first 21 at Manchester United, no one has ever done this, not even Van Nistelrooy who managed an impressive 15. Both Hernandez and Van Persie look lethal for United this season. This is without even mentioning Welbeck and Rooney ...
